To get a beautiful and textured body, you need to work very hard. Professional bodybuilders know this firsthand. Unfortunately, exercise and proper nutrition alone may not be enough to keep you in shape. Athletes have to take a variety of medications. In this article we will talk about one of the most popular - human chorionic gonadotropin and its use in bodybuilding.

What is gonadotropin?

Gonadotropin is a hormone that a woman's placenta produces during pregnancy. Thanks to him, the subsequent production of gestagens and estrogens in the corpus luteum becomes possible. It is excreted from a woman's body along with urine, after which it is extracted and used for the production of drugs.

Chorionic gonadotropin (HCG, HCG) is similar in its effect to luteinizing hormone, which is produced in the hypothalamus, therefore it also stimulates testosterone production in men. It was this property that interested bodybuilders.

Application effects

Chorionic gonadotropin in bodybuilding is rarely used for anabolic purposes - as studies have shown, in this direction it is ineffective. For the growth of muscle mass in combined courses, the drug is taken only by some inexperienced athletes. Sometimes hCG is used during drying to preserve muscle. But this is not its main purpose.

The most popular drugs used by professional bodybuilders to keep fit are anabolic steroids. They are very effective and act quite strongly, and as a result, the production of their own testosterone in the athlete's body stops, since it comes from outside in large doses. This can lead to testicular atrophy.

Violation of the arc "hypothalamus-pituitary-testicles" occurs at the very beginning of the course. Luteinizing hormone practically stops acting on the germ cells. A decrease in the size of the testicles can be noticed within a month.
